The Wick Theatre kicks off 2015 with a dazzling production of La Cage aux Folles starring Broadway legend Lee Roy Reams. The multi-talented actor, singer, dancer and director has been earning rave reviews since his debut in Sweet Charity in 1966. Reams whose credits include Hello Dolly, Applause, 42nd Street and many more, will be recreating his role as “Zaza” in the Tony Award winning production which features songs by Jerry Herman including I Am What I Am, Songs in the Sand and the famed title number. The show runs from January 8th-February 15th. Tickets 58-$62, www.thewick.org or call 561-995-2333. “We are honored to have Mr. Reams star in our production of La Cage,” said Executive Producer Marilynn A. Wick. “Liz Smith calls him Broadway’s darling, and it is a thrill to bring him to Boca Raton for this spectacular show.” La Cage aux Folles tells the story of a flamboyant gay couple who must pretend to be straight for one night—with one of the men in drag—to dupe the conservative political family of their son’s fiancé. This smash hit Broadway musical was written by the incomparable Harvey Fierstein with music and lyrics by the legendary Jerry Herman. The Wick production also stars theater veteran Walter Charles, who made his Broadway debut in Grease and additional credits include Sweeney Todd, Cats, La Cage aux Folles, Kiss Me Kate and more. The show will be directed and choreographed by Norb Joerder. And will feature an 8-piece band led by Musical Director Michael Ursua. La Cage aux Folles opens for previews at the Wick on January 8, 2014 with the Gala Grand Opening on January 10th. Performances are Wednesday through Sunday with matinees at 2:00 p.m. and evening performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. For reservations or additional information, contact the Wick Theatre at 561-995-2333 or visit us on the web at www.thewick.org To enhance the theatre experience, The Wick is now serving dinner.
