All Delray Beach families and residents are invited to attend the 4th Annual “Healthy & Free” Juneteenth Family Fun Day and Health Fair on Saturday, June 15, 2013, from 12:00 pm (Noon) until 7:00 pm, at Pompey Park, 1101 NW 2nd Street. This free event, which will be hosted by One Love-One Community Foundation in partnership with the City of Delray Beach, will commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth Family Fun Day will offer a day of fun activities and games for children including a bounce house, face painting, games and contests. Entertainment will include free concerts by local artists including the Legends Band with Richard Burton & Terry Parker, the Army Gideon Band, Ms Gospafunk of the Alexander Sisters Gospel Group, Reflection and John Joseph as well as performances by the Winners by Design Mentoring Group and the Delray Divas Step Team. In addition, the Health Fair will offer free preventive health screenings and education in the Pompey Park Gymnasium, from 12:00 pm (Noon) to 4:00 pm as well as a blood drive and bone marrow registry. Also, representatives from various organizations will be on site to discuss services and programs that are available to our residents including senior services, credit repair and housing assistance for low income families. Everyone is invited to take part in an attempt to break the Guinness World Book of Records to create the largest electric slide. This is your chance to break a world record! An evening Teen Dance will also be held from 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm to commemorate Juneteenth. Please Note: A $7 admission fee will be charged to attend the Teen Dance.
