BOCA RATON, FL — The 6th Annual Boca Raton Wine & Food Festival takes the two pillars of a picnic—fresh air and fresh food—to lavish extremes. One of South Florida’s largest outdoor culinary events, it highlights local chefs and foodie-favorite wines, brews, and spirits on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. This year, it features special events such as the four-course VIP Dinner under the Stars and the Grand Tasting, with dishes from around the world. This year’s festival benefits PROPEL (People Reaching Out to Educational and Leadership), a local nonprofit that promotes education, healthy living, leadership and employment. The schedule includes: Vineyard Party, Friday, Nov. 20, 7-10 p.m. Visitors stroll through a vineyard, sipping vintages from the West Coast and abroad to the tune of live music. Grand Tasting, Saturday, Nov. 21, 6-10 p.m. Cuisine and wine from around the world. Live cooking demonstrations and two specialized “villages”—one devoted to cheese, the other to dessert. Craft Brew Battle, Sunday, November 22 from 1-4 p.m. Select guests sip beers while blindfolded, trying to identify them and win the title of “Craft Brew Master.” The tasting also overflows with brews from Belgians to Pilsners, as well as educational seminars on beer-making and pairing. Guests can also visit tasting stations where local chefs pair their cuisine with a craft brew varietal. For tickets and information, call 561-338-7594.
