Boca West Country Club, off Glades Road just east of Florida’s Turnpike, has just launched a $45 million club improvement program that includes the construction of a new aquatics center and the expansion and revamping of the existing sports center complex.

Fresh from the completion of its European-inspired spa last summer, the luxurious expanse of homes, golf courses, a clubhouse, recreational facilities and dining centers, is ready to move ahead with the approved $45 million upgrade that includes construction of a new aquatics center and the expansion and invigorating of the existing sports center complex.

Projects will be completed in a phased process to minimize inconvenience to members.

“Providing our members with the best amenities available and with facilities that exceed their expectations is the cornerstone of Boca West,” said Matthew Linderman, president and COO of the country club. “These new centers and refurbishments are being done, as always, with no assessment fees to our members.”

He said the 96,000-square-foot aquatics center will showcase an expansive, tropical plush landscaped pool deck; splash pool bar and grill, an alfresco restaurant and bar overlooking the pools as well as the Palmer Golf Course; a bath house with showers and lockers; a multipurpose event space; two activity lawns and five pools, including a four-lane lap pool, a family pool with zero entry, an adult pool with submerged loungers, a teaching pool and a kids’ pool with a splash pad.

The new aquatics center is scheduled for completion by November 2022.

The two-story, sports center complex will similarly undergo a full-scale restoration and be enlarged to 72,000 square feet. Completion is also set for November of 2022.

The fitness and wellness Center will weave several movement studios in with state-of-the-art technology for spin, aerobics, pilates and core training.

A serene spa relaxation courtyard will be added, said Linderman, with an outdoor wet area.

Among the many enhancements, an outdoor rooftop bar and terrace overlooking the well-honed Palmer Golf Course will be introduced as well as a Grab-N-Go Market Café with a fountain courtyard for dining, adult game room and updated billiards room, new two-story lobby and a valet entrance with a three-lane porte cochere and a multi-level water feature.

The club’s dining destinations will undergo their own enhancements. My Pi Restaurant is set to receive a new bar with expanded dining availability, an open concept kitchen including a sushi and pizza bar and the adjacent Onyx Bar will be enlarged to entertain larger crowds with an outdoor rooftop terrace.

The upgrading continues into the summer of 2021 when improvements to the social clubhouse’s indoor and outdoor areas will include a clean, modern aesthetic in the living room lounge, updated dining and catering concepts, an expanded exterior entrance walkway with picturesque water features and additional upgrades.

Mr. D’s 19th Hole Restaurant – named in honor of retired Boca West president/COO Jay DiPietro – will be significantly refurbished and enhanced for indoor and outdoor dining with an upgraded louvered roof structure covering the patio and extending over the Flightscope Golf experience adjacent to Mr. D’s for daytime instructional use and evening fun activities.

The conversion of an existing second floor space in the engineering building will create space for a multi-purpose art and culinary demonstration studio to accommodate classes for arts and crafts, culinary and beverage demo experiences and educational classes.

Before leaving the subject of new improvements at BWCC, Linderman called attention to “our commitment to continually update and refine out facilities.”

He commented that the “award-winning spa underwent a treatment of its own. From the guest reception area to the pre-treatment waiting areas and beyond, we integrated a soft contemporary aesthetic that has organic and artistic inspiration from both art and nature.”

“It’s this unique combination of the spa’s contemporary inspired interior design and the intuitive service provided by the Boca West staff that creates a sense of tranquility few places can replicate in South Florida.
