Celebrate EARTH DAY ON THE AVENUE with Free Eco-Friendly Family Events


The City of Delray Beach has proclaimed April 2013 as EARTH MONTH to raise environmental awareness and promote the City’s continued goals as a green and sustainable community. Join the City at EARTH DAY ON THE AVENUE on Saturday, April 20, 2013, and participate in various “green-themed” activities and special events, including: GREAT AMERICAN BEACH CLEANUP – 8:00 am to 10:00 am 
The City of Delray Beach Parks and Recreation Department and the Sandoway House Nature Center are co-sponsoring this event at the City’s Municipal Beach. Volunteers are invited to participate in collecting trash and debris in an effort to promote a cleaner and safer beach. Supplies will be provided and community service hours will be awarded. This free family-friendly event, which is hosted by the City of Delray Beach, will feature fun & educational inter-active activities, and provide an opportunity to learn how we can become a greener and more sustainable community.  This exciting event will be held at Old School Square Park, located on the northeast corner of Atlantic and NE 2nd Avenues, and will include: Planting with the Mayor, Blessing of the Earth, Environmental Storytelling & Music, Buttons the Clown Goes Green, Marine & Land Animal Encounter & Awareness, Recycled Art Projects & Activities, Alternative & Eco-Friendly Transportation Rides, Water Resources Preservation, Healthy Snacks and Refreshments and Giveaways.
