City Applies for Grant to
Construct Bicycle Lanes and Sidewalks on Homewood Boulevard

On March 20th, the Delray Beach City Commission authorized City staff to apply for grant funding through the 2012 Transportation Enhancement Grant. This grant is offered to local governments through the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). If approved, funding will be available in Fiscal Year (FY) 2015-2016. The City of Delray Beach will apply for funding in the amount of $599,000 to construct bicycle lanes, sidewalks and resurface the roadway along Homewood Blvd from Old Germantown Road to Lowson Blvd. The total cost of the project is $701,000, however; not all costs associated with this project are reimbursable, requiring City funding. Therefore, $102,000 of the project’s total cost will be paid out of the City’s General Fund Capital Improvements budget.
