City of Delray Beach selects new chief for Fire-Rescue Department

The City of Delray Beach announced that Danielle Connor, an 18 year veteran with Delray Beach, has been selected as the agency’s new Chief. Chief Connor will replace Chief David James, who resigned in November 2011.Chief Connor, a second generation fire- fighter and native Floridian, is one of five family members who have devoted their life to the fire service. Her career as a firefighter with Delray Beach Fire-Rescue began in 1993 and has advanced through the ranks of Paramedic, Driver Engineer, Lieutenant and Division Chief. She held the position of Assistant Chief of Administration until October, 2011, at which time she took on the role of Acting Chief.Chief Connor attended the University of New Haven where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is a graduate of both the Emergency Services Leadership Institute of the University of Florida/Florida Fire Chiefs Association and the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy. Chief Connor also holds a license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Florida.
