The Delray Beach Library’s Lifelong Learning Community Institute, located at 100 West Atlantic Avenue kicks off its’ Fall 2012 semester with an exciting symposium on food on Saturday, October 20 from 8:30am – 2:30pm. For the second year in a row, the Library will present: Food! Cuisine, Culture & Community. Attendees will take an in-depth look at food from many different perspectives. The symposium features a variety of outstanding local experts in the field. Participants will enjoy workshops and cooking demonstrations on such topics as: Breakfast: The Healthy Start to the Day with Chef Rey De La Osa; A Brief History of Food Writing: Why Read When You Can Eat? with A. Papatya Bucak, Associate Professor English & Creative Writing, FAU; Restaurants & Today’s Diners with Food Journalist Jan Norris; From Farm to Table- From Farm to School with former Chef & food distributor Eric Hahn; and Feelings & Food – What Are We Hungry For? with syndicated columnist and author Ellen Kanner. The Moderator for the day will be Ann Bocock, Journalist and former Moderator & Host of WXEL Florida Forum.
Breakfast will be provided by Publix & Publix Apron’s Cooking School and the day will also include Food Tasting Tables provided by Buddha Sky Bar, Caffé Luna Rosa, Historic Hartman House, Max’s Harvest, Orchid Tea Room, Puccini’s Pizzeria, The Green Gourmet, and Ziree Thai & Sushi. Raffle prizes include dinner for six provided by Chef & restaurateur John Paul, Gift Basket provided by Basket O’ Books and many restaurant gift certificates.
