Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce to Host Delray Beach Candidates Forum


Jim Sackett, a trusted and well-respected local television news veteran, will serve as the special guest moderator at a forum featuring the candidates running for Delray Beach Mayor and City Commission. Scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Delray Beach Center for the Arts Crest Theater, the forum, hosted by the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce, will provide a platform for the candidates to present their views on pressing local issues. “This forum is an opportunity for voters to hear directly from the two mayoral candidates and the three commission candidates,” said Connor Lynch, chair of the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee. “Jim Sackett did an outstanding job moderating last year’s forum and we’re grateful that he’s able to be with us again this year.” Running for Delray Beach public office in the March 12 elections, and expected to attend the forum are mayoral candidates Thomas F. Carney Jr. and Cary D. Glickstein. Running for City Commission Seat 1 and also expected at the forum are Alexander C. Christopher, Kurt Lehmann and Shelly E. Petrolia. Incumbent City Commissioner Adam Frankel, representing Seat 3, is unopposed and automatically re-elected. “All of us at the Chamber are pleased to be able to sponsor this important event and to give residents and members of our business community an opportunity to learn more about each of the candidates,” said Interim Chamber President Karen Granger. “Because we work closely with local government on behalf of our members throughout the year, we recognize the value a forum such as this provides to our entire community.” The Thursday, Feb. 28 candidate’s forum is open to the public and admission is free.
