By Dale King BOCA RATON, FL – In addition to a fun run that was held on Dec. 5, the Wayne Barton Study Center will be collecting toys and funds to help disadvantaged families in the community this month. “We are working to raise funds for the Wayne Barton Center and help children in any way possible,” said Cristina Calderon, an Herbalife independent member. She noted that volunteers from Herbalife helped Barton and other volunteers serve some 3,000 Thanksgiving meals to needy children and families on Nov. 23, at the Barton Center. They also helped him distribute turkeys to the underprivileged on Nov. 24. “We are also collecting toys for the children at the Wayne Barton Center for Christmas,” she said. The annual holiday party, open to the community, will be held Sunday, Dec. 20, from 1-4 p.m. at the center, located at 269 Northeast 14th St., Boca Raton. There will be free food, face painting, a DJ and clowns. Kids can get their pictures taken with Santa, who will arrive on a Boca Raton fire truck.
