Library Centennial Celebration Officially Begins on its 99th Birthday


DELRAY BEACH, FL – The Delray Beach Public Library kicked off the Centennial celebration year on its 99th birthday, April 11, 2012 with a ceremony and party to debut the Library’s Centennial banners and officially begin the activities to celebrate this milestone. More than 75 community members including: city officials, Library Board members and volunteers and community dignitaries, attended this festive event that included music, a cocktail reception sponsored by Sundy House and a beautiful Centennial cake provided by Publix Supermarkets. Among the guests were Centennial Committee Chairpersons Joann Haros, a member of the Woman’s Club formerly known as the Ladies Improvement Association that began the Library in 1913 and community member Dorothy MacDiarmid. Many special events are being planned throughout the next twelve months to celebrate the Library’s Centennial year.
