The Delray Beach Chorale to Hold Holiday Concert Dec. 1st at First Presbyterian Church


Delray Beach, FL – The Delray Beach Chorale, a non-profit vocal ensemble, will hold a holiday concert, Voices of the Season, on Saturday December 1, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 33 Gleason Street in Delray Beach. This popular annual holiday musical event will feature a variety of seasonal songs in unique arrangements. The chorale will also perform the Mesa di Gloria, one of Puccini’s earliest compositions, written when he was only eighteen. Tickets are $20 ($5.00 for students with i.d.) and can be purchased by contacting 1.800.984.7282 or The Chorale will perform with orchestra under the direction of Eric Keiper. Artists-in-Residence William Stafford, baritone and Jorge Toro, tenor will be the soloists for the Messa di Gloria. Complimentary refreshments will be served after the program. The Delray Beach Chorale has been performing choral music in the South Palm Beach County area since 1982. Now in its 31st season, the Chorale attracts qualified and dedicated volunteer singers with solid musical backgrounds and draws its soloists from the wealth of talented professional singers in South Florida. The group auditions annually in September. The Chorale has approximately 50 members and performs two major programs a year. The Chorale has a strong commitment to the development of young talent. Over the past twenty years, the organization has given out over 22 scholarships. The group also maintains an Artist-In-Residence Program, currently comprised of Alicia Branch, soprano, W. Myngoe Brashears, tenor/counter-tenor, Monica Hidalgo, alto and William R. Stafford, baritone. In 2009, the Chorale launched a Music Academy Apprentice Program to offer instruction opportunities to talented local high school singers. The Chorale will present Bernstein & Sondheim in Concert on April 12th at the Duncan Theatre in Lake Worth and April 13th at the First Presbyterian Church in Delray Beach.

Delray Beach Chorale Artistic Director Eric Keiper is an accomplished tenor and has performed throughout South Florida for over twenty-five years. He regularly performs with the Palm Beach Opera Company where he also served as interim chorus master from 2000 -2002. Keiper was the Director of Choral Activities at Santaluces Community High School from 1993- 2006. Ed Shuman, Delray Beach Accompanist, is a pianist, composer, and conductor and has been a public school music teacher in Palm Beach County since 1985. He has worked in various capacities with the Palm Beach Opera since 1991, and has concertized throughout South Florida as soloist, accompanist and chamber music pianist.
