The Most Successful Laugh With the Library Event Ever!

On Friday, February 1, 2013 the Delray Beach Public Library once again hosted the unusual and exciting Laugh with the Library, Chapter 7 at the Delray Beach Marriott. Delray Beach residents and Library Board members Becky Walsh & Heidi Sargeant served as co-chairpersons for this creative and casual fun-filled night of comedy, cocktails, and supper by the bite. The Library, which is a 501 c 3 not for profit organization, uniquely funded with a public and private partnership with the City of Delray Beach, The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the community, is grateful for the financial support of these sponsors for the evening: Bank of America, Private Jewelers, Ocean Properties, Cheney Brothers, Marriott Delray Beach, Joseph and Tandy Robinson, Caler, Donten, Levine, Cohen, Porter & Veil, P.A., Harry and Deborah Sargeant, Waste Management, Stuart & Shelby, Moroco Orthodontics, Florida Power & Light Company, and Weekes & Callaway, Inc. This year the SOLD OUT evening featured the non-stop comedy of nationally-known, comedian Tom Cotter. Recently, Tom became the first comedian to ever reach the finals of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent. Mistress of Ceremonies Suzanne Boyd of WPEC-TV CBS 12 News welcomed the very large audience and introduced the warm-up comedienne Marion Grodin and then brought on headliner Tom Cotter. He brought the house down! This years’ event raised over $72,000 through record-breaking attendance, Ad Book revenue and a highly successful raffle sales. This money will be used to enhance programs for children and teens.
