WellFest™ Delray, a second year event that will be held the weekend of March 8-9, 2014 at Delray Center for the Arts and Hyatt Place, has announced the funding of a scholarship program at Banyan Creek Elementary School to promote fitness, good nutrition and self-esteem. It’s a lesson Bob Lipp, WellFest creator, learned at a young age. “When I was ten my family moved to a new neighborhood with new kids, many of whom had already formed friendships,” states Lipp. “That can be difficult for a young person, and it was for me. So when our gym teacher challenged the class to complete a series of fitness tests, I saw it as a chance to connect with some of my classmates. As it turned out, it was also great for my self- esteem.” The WellFestTM Delray Scholarship fund will select two students from the graduating class that according to school guidelines “support a lifestyle that promotes staying fit, eating responsibly and feeling positive about yourself.” Commenting on the program, Principal William Fay Jr. said, “Wellness is a concept that we incorporate into the curriculum at Banyan Creek Elementary School through educational activities and athletic programs. We’re delighted that WellFestTM Delray has provided this incentive to further encourage our students to realize the value of a healthy lifestyle.” Assistant Principal Alison L’Etoile added, “It’s no secret that our children are the future and the importance of encouraging a strong mind and strong body can never be overlooked.” The scholarship was particularly important for Sandra Tribioli, Director of Operations for WellFest and a mother of three school-aged children. “It’s great when an event like WellFest or a business or an individual can make such a positive impact on our children, and we are pleased that Principal Fay and Vice Principal L’Etoile have been so gracious in accepting our offer.” As of this writing, WellFest Delray 2014 has 16 Sponsors and over 80 Exhibitors and Speakers. Sponsors include: Acupuncture Associates, Celsius Energy Drink, Fiesta Pet Deli, Delray Library, Delray Medical Center, Gulfstream Business Bank, Hyatt Place Delray, Javita Coffee, Mint Fit 111, Naked Gourmet, Mind, Body and Spirit Café, Smart Car Palm Beach, 21 Drops, Synergy Fitness Boca, Yoga Journey and Zaaz Studios. Speakers include noted area author Margaret Lembo, who has written several books for adults and one for children on Chakra and Crystals, and Dr. Brian Clement, of the famed Hippocrates Health Institute. Support and interest in this educational and inspirational event that features a Business Expo, Expert Speaker Sessions, Fitness/Well-being Center, WellPet area and Eat Well Food & Beverage Court grows every day. “The support has been impressive, to say the least” states Bob Lipp the event creator. “In just our second year, we’ve seen businesspeople and organizations that support businesses, residents and visitors from Delray and surrounding areas get behind this important event.” The event will take place inside and out at Delray Center for The Arts (off Swinton and Atlantic Avenues in downtown Delray) as well as the meeting rooms at Hyatt Place from 11AM – 5PM, Saturday and Sunday.
